Scouting Reports: Moscow Red Legion

Moscow Red Legion has proved in 2012 their long respected, Championship caliber system of training players is alive and well. They are currently ranked 2nd in the world after taking two second place finishes in a row.

Their three new pick-ups for 2012 are on fire. Marcello Margott is the number 1 player in the league and is devastating people on the Dorito side of the field, and with the layout for this event, there’s no reason to think he won’t continue to excel. It’s amazing how well he’s playing this season, as he blew his knee out last year and spent the off-season laid up in bed and pondering his future, wondering if he could ever play the game again. He’s only 22 years old but is already a World Champ and whatever demons he fought when he was unable to walk, he defeated, emerging from his second knee surgery and subsequent rehab playing better than he ever has.

The European tag-team of Jason Wheeler (ranked 50th), from London England, and Axel Gaudin (ranked 13th), from France, has been highly effective on the snake side. Both players are starting to make a name for themselves in the states after tearing up the competition in Europe for the past few years before their current stint on Moscow Red Legion.

Alexandr Berdnikov (ranked 3rd) is also having a solid year, but he’s known for his consistency. His versatility is a huge asset for the squad. He’s listed as a back player and starts in the back center but is the one of the most mobile players on the team, and you will find him leap-frogging his front players when the need arises.

His long time on-field partner in crime Kirill Prikhidni is also lighting people up, and is ranked 15th overall. Kirill has emerged as important leader, and his involvement on this level is important to the current success and longevity of the Red Legion, after the team lost three long time veterans and stars in the 2011/2012 offseason.

The mid Atlantic Open could be the tournament they put it together, as they’ve improved every event. No one in the league practices as much as Moscow Red Legion and they play very confident in every game. It’s just a matter of time until this team wins an event.
